Tuesday 11th April - Windsurf **** River Orwell at Levington - sunny periods.

Starboard Freeride 150 and an Evolution Freeride foil with a Naish Evolution 5.6.

As I haven?t been out fir a couple of weeks, I was keen to get out today before it becomes super windy and wet tomorrow! With high water around four I was in no hurry so was able to do my exercises before setting off to Levington Marina about 11.30. With dredging pipes still in the way, I had to park at the end of the marina and walk 100m to the small launch beach, taking my foil board to check the wind strength, the WSW was gusting over 20 mph and with it supposed to increase I took a chance with my 5.6. There was loads of water when I launched at 12.30 but I soon learn the sail was way too small but the sun was out so I played hunt the gust for a couple of hours being joined on the water later by Ian and Michael also foiling with Andy winging. I was now the heaviest sailor out with the smallest sail with Ian also rigging 5.6 and Michael 5.8. I had a few decent runs down towards Pin Mill as Michael beat to the docks, I tried but was way underpowered to sail upwind so was sailing back to call it a day when as if by magic the wind filled in gusting to 25 mph and I had a really good hour, actually getting a year and spot hour PB with some OK gybing but nothing overly fast as the river was fairly lumpy today but good fun none the less being out well over three hours! Then time to pack up, shower and head for home to check out how Mags day went:)

PS - was lucky enough to have a pic on ITV's About Anglia, good old Chris Page:)
